Objective of the Event:
NIRMAL 2024 was organized with the aim of engaging architecture students in real-world problem-solving through design. It focused on innovative, sustainable, and context-sensitive design solutions, promoting awareness of environmental responsibility and community-centric architecture. The competition invited participants from various architecture colleges to present their ideas and compete in a juried format.
The NIRMAL 2024 design competition was organized by S.I. Bombay Chembur in collaboration with PHOCOA (Pillai HOC College of Architecture, Rasayani)
Significance of the Competition:
The NIRMAL 2024 Inter-College Design Competition served as a valuable academic and professional platform for architecture students to engage in real-world design challenges beyond the classroom. The competition encouraged participants to apply their theoretical knowledge, creativity, and technical skills to address contextual, social, and environmental issues through design.

These students represented Pillai College of Architecture, New Panvel with a concept proposal that was developed collaboratively and showcased innovative thinking, regulatory understanding, and effective spatial design.
How the Event Was Conducted:
- Format: Inter-college design competition focused on real-world architectural and urban issues.
- Mode: Online, the entries had to be submitted by the students on online and later the results were also declared online.
- Participation: Students registered via a Google Form and submitted their design proposals by the stated deadline.
- Judging: Entries were reviewed by a professional jury, composed of architects and planners. Evaluation was based on design innovation, contextual relevance, feasibility, and presentation.
- Awards & Recognition: Winning entries were selected and awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, along with possible mentions or certificates.
Achievements:
The students from our college excelled in the competition and earned recognition for their outstanding proposals:
- 1st Place: Vishnu Rajendran
- 3rd Place: Bhavin Bothra, Yash Kale and Jayant Thakkar
This is a significant achievement considering the competitive nature of the event and the participation of multiple reputed architecture institutions.
